WWNO Arts & Culture Coverage

WWNO Arts and Culture

Tune in for More Accessible Education.

New Orleans public radio is a true original, broadcasting local news, NPR news, and cultural entertainment on WWNO 89.9 FM. Since 2009, the station has steadily increased local news reporting to complement NPR's national and international focus. Another of WWNO’s missions is to share stories impacting the Gulf South, like coastal restoration, public education, culture and the arts. In recent years, WWNO’s local news and cultural features have won numerous Press Club awards, including seven Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards for radio journalism excellence.

Thankfully, with the support of The Helis Foundation, New Orleans’ Public Radio is beginning to reach more people, sharing its cultural reporting and programming even further, and taking them from New Orleans’ dense historic neighborhoods to rural communities nestled along the cypress-lined bayous.

With WWNO’s news and cultural content reaching more people worldwide, the station’s stories on music, culture, art, and the region are bringing pride to New Orleanians everywhere and introducing the city to those who have yet to visit.
