What We Fund
The Helis Foundation John Scott Center
Sculptor, Painter, Printmaker, Collagist, and MacArthur Genius John T. Scott’s Largest Collection of Art Under One Roof.
The Helis Foundation John Scott Center at the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities (LEH) spans 6,000 square feet and is a community hub of interactive and innovative exhibits, programs, and experiences inspired by artist, educator, and humanist John T. Scott.
The space is also home to a collection of 51 works by Scott and offers educational opportunities and programs that draw upon his work. Many of his pieces respond to pandemics, environmental humanities, poverty, and racial justice.
In the fall of 2021, John T. Scott’s son, Ayo, installed his mural, Lessons, on the side of LEH as part of Unframed presented by The Helis Foundation, a project of Arts New Orleans, a collection of 10 vibrant, large-scale murals in downtown New Orleans. Ayo Scott’s mural depicts his father’s well-known New Orleans public sculptures, Spirit House and Ocean Song.
Open Thursday – Saturday, 12:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
