The Helis Foundation John Scott Center
The Helis Foundation is proud to announce the opening of The Helis Foundation John Scott Center at the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities (LEH). Spanning 6,000 square feet, the center is a community hub of interactive innovative exhibits, programs, and experiences inspired by artist, educator, and humanist John T. Scott. The space is home to a collection of 51 works by Scott and offers educational opportunities and programs that draw upon his work and respond to pandemics, environmental humanities, poverty, and justice.
In the fall of 2021, John T. Scott’s son, Ayo, installed his mural, Lessons, on the side of LEH as part of Unframed, presented by The Helis Foundation, a project of Arts New Orleans, a collection of nine vibrant, large-scale murals in downtown New Orleans. Ayo Scott’s mural includes depictions of his father’s well-known New Orleans public sculptures, Spirit House and Ocean Song.
